My suggestion to Justice Yashwant Varma
By Justice Markandey Katju
Some people thought I am trying to protect Justice Yashwant Varma, Judge of Delhi High Court, because I know him and his family well.
In fact all I said was that no one should be condemned unheard, and in law there is a presumption of innocence until proved guilty.
I have sent a WhatsApp message today to Justice Varma suggesting to him that he should write to the CJI and request him to grant permission to the police to investigate him so that the truth can come out.
This is the whatsapp message I sent to Justice Varma this morning :

Yashwant, I heard on the internet that the Allahabad High Court Bar Association has decided to approach the CJI and request him to give permission to file an FIR against you.
I suggest you write a letter to the CJI and yourself ask him to grant such permission so that the police may investigate and the truth be known to all.
Please also release copies of your letter to the media.
